Katy Perry is, in my opinion, one of the most talented artists in the industry today. Not only does she have a voice that is all her own, but she also has released many memorable songs. From “I Kissed a Girl” to “Waking Up in Vegas,” it’s safe to say that this musician is one of the best current pop artists. Does Katy Perry’s new album Teenage Dream compare to her last though?
Teenage Dream is a Dream For Katy Perry Fans
If you’re a fan of Katy Perry, you will absolutely love her new album Teenage Dream. The new album is well worth the wait. It’s even better than her first album. There is not a single song on Katy Perry’s new album that fans won’t love.
“California Gurls” (featuring Snoop Dogg) is the first single that was released from the album. Whether you love it or hate it, you cannot deny that this is a song which just makes you want to dance.
“Teenage Dream” is the second single that has been released from the Katy Perry album. When I first heard this song on the radio, I was not actually sure who it was by but knew that I loved it right away. I was not surprised when the radio DJ said that the song was by Katy Perry.
Katy Perry’s Creative Song Titles and Lyrics
One of the things that I love about the new album is the creativity that was used for some of the song lyrics and titles. Here are a few examples.
In the song “Firework,” Katy Perry sings about making life better for yourself. She says, “Do you know there’s still a chance for you/ ‘Cause there’s a spark in you/ You just gotta ignite the light, and let it shine/ Just own the night like the 4th of July.”
Katy Perry would not be the artist she is without hiding a little bit of sexuality in the lyrics of her songs. Such is the case with her fun, upbeat song called “Peacock.”
My personal favorite song from Teenage Dream is “Hummingbird Heartbeat.” In this song, Katy Perry sings: “You give me the hummingbird heartbeat/ Spread my wings and make me fly/ The taste of your honey is so sweet.” Not only is this a very creative song, but it’s a lot of fun.
Slow Songs on the Katy Perry Album
If you loved “Thinking of You,” then you might find that you are more of a fan of Katy Perry’s slower songs. The good news is that there are a few very beautiful slow songs on Teenage Dream.
In the song “Pearl,” Katy Perry sings about a girl who has lost her touch ever since she has been with her boyfriend. She sings, “She is a pyramid/ But with him she’s just a grain of sand…She was a hurricane/But now she’s just a gust of wind…She used to be a pearl.”
“Not Like the Movies” is another beautiful slower Katy Perry song. She sings about feeling as though someone is not the right one for you. She says, “Snow White said when I was young, ‘One day my prince will come’/ So I wait for that date.”
Overall, Teenage Dream is a fabulous album. If you love Katy Perry, you will be sure to love her new album which hit stores today.
