According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, Burlington Coat Factory, of Burlington, NJ, has voluntarily recalled several of their products. This recall was released September 16, 2010.
What is being recalled?
Approximately 10,000 hooded jackets and sweatshirts are included in this recall.
What’s the problem?
The jackets and sweatshirts have drawstrings in the hood and/or waist. These strings can strangle or trap children. No injuries have been reported as of the date of this release.

This recall is for several different items, which are listed “brand name – description – color – size”:
AEROPOSTALE – Boys’ pullover sweatshirt with Aeropostale printed on the front – Brown – Boys’ Small
APPLE BOTTOM – Girls’ zippered velvet jacket with “Apple Bottom” embroidered on the back – Brown – Girls’ sizes 7-16
DEERE PARK – Boys’ zippered jackets – Red and Blue – Boys’ sizes
DISNEY WINNE THE POOH – Zippered jackets with a picture of Winnie the Pooh on the front of the jacket – Blue with white sleeves with green and blue stripes on the sleeves – Sizes 2T, 3T, 4T
GRAY WOLF – Zippered jacket with Grey Wolf tag inside jacket and drawstring waist – Dark Blue – Sizes 13 – 14
JONATHON STONE – Zippered jacket with “55” printed on the front and “J.stone” printed on the neck tag – Blue, red and white – Size L
KANI GOLD – Boys’ zippered sweatshirt – Brown, black and grey – Size Youth L 16/18 (sold from 10/24/2008)
MILETTA – Zippered jackets – Black with faux fur cuffs and hood – Size Medium 9-10
MIRIKA – Girls’ zippered sweatshirts with embroidery on sleeves – Red – Size Medium
NEW YORK – Girls’ zippered sleeveless sweatshirts with “33 New York” embroidered on in – Light Blue – Size Small
RUFF STUFF – Boys’ zipper and snap close jackets – Blue and light blue – Size 14 – 16 (date approximately 1995)
SERGIO BENINI – Zippered heavy jackets with snaps – Brown – Size Medium (September 2007)
These jackets and sweatshirts were manufactured in China, Cambodia, Korea, and the Unites States. They were sold nationwide in the US at Burlington Coat Factory stores and other stores from January 1995 through September 2009. They cost between $7 and $30.
