What happens when one million users join a service in fifteen days? The servers shut down temporarily overwhelmed with responses. That is exactly what happened to Kik Messenger. This is the new service which acts as your personal assistance and you know we need more of those to organize our SMS text messages.
Kik is not just for kids. It’s for adults who love to multi-task. If you are too busy to read a new text message from your boss, then Kik steps in and tells the messenger that it has been delivered but not yet read. If will show you if a message is sent, delivered and read with the real timing of an open conversation.
It all began with Kik Messenger’s founder Ted who attended the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. His mini-biography is included on the website. The system is available for Blackberry, iPhone, iPod and Android. Just choose your device.
“When we launched Kik Messenger, we wanted to do two things, and do them really well: help you find friends on Kik, and then help you have life-like conversations with them. We built an algorithm that quickly and automatically finds other Kiksters in your contact list. We then developed a lightning fast platform that, combined with Sent, Delivered, Read, and Is Typing receipts, makes messaging with Kik feel like a real conversation,” wrote Ted on the Kik Messenger blog.
If there are glitches to the system, then contact support. They have plenty of Red Bull on hand to pull all-nighters to smooth things out.
