This pattern is very easy but becomes tedious if you never dealt with beading before. After making one of these you will want to make many more.
Skill level: Easy to moderate
Size of pattern: Size 7. To achieve different sizes measure your finger and divide that number in half. This is the length you need of cast on stitches.
Materials: 1 ball of size 10 cotton yarn (doily yarn) in green, 1 ball of size 10 cotton yarn (doily yarn), in red. This pattern only takes a few feet total so raid your leftover bag. 18 gold or bronze seed beads
Size of needles: Size 2
Gauge: 8 sts. =1 inch; 2 rows =1/4 inch.
Preparation: Thread beads onto the red yarn by wetting the end and twisting to make it guide through the beads. Another option is to put fray check on the tip and let it dry then thread the beads on the yarn.
Cast on 19 with green.
Row 1: knit across(green)
Row 2: Purl across(green)
Row 3: knit across with red.
Row 4: *Purl 1(red), then slip one bead across keeping it on the purl side or front side of work(front side of work is purl side), purl1. *Repeat across to last stitch, p 1.
Row 5: Knit across (red).
Row 6: Purl across with green.
Row 7: Knit across (green).
Row 8: Purl across (green).
Row 9: Bind off semi-loosely.
Finishing: With right sides together ( purl side), with a tapestry needle sew the ends together. Turn right side out and prepare to be dazzling! :)
Tips: You can cast using a variety of methods. This pattern was cast on using the knit on method.
Directions for knit on casts on method: Make a slip stitch, knit in that slip stitch. Place the knitted stitch back on the first needle. Continue knitting into the last stitch and then putting it back on the first needle until you have desired number of sts.
Alternative cast on: Make a slip stitch, knit in the slip stitch. Place the knitted stitch back on the first needle. Next knit in between the two stitches on your needle then place the knitted stitch back on first needle. Continue until you have desired number of sts.
