Pass the A-1, please!
On Sunday night’s 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, outrageous pop star Lady Gaga casually handed the legendary Cher her purse as she accepted her award for Video of the Year for her song “Bad Romance”. Then she made a point to say, “I never thought I’d be asking Cher to hold my meat purse.”
While Lady Gaga’s final ensemble looked to be the most “normal” of her three costumes changes that evening, once she referred to her purse as a “meat purse” it was time to take a closer look. A much closer look. Hmmm….even though the dress appeared to be made out of meat, I mean come on, not even Lady Gaga does that. It had to be fake!
But according to MTV, the dress was 100% Grade A real. The creator of the dress, designer Franc Fernandez confirmed to MTV, “The dress is indeed real meat from my family butcher.”
You can see up close pictures of Lady Gaga’s meat dress here.
While Gaga is a savvy lady, this may be one stunt she didn’t think through. Besides the fact that PETA is having a major conniption over her fashion faux pas, did she consider the health hazards of wearing a raw meat dress?
And what about the poor people sitting near her during the final minutes of the MTV VMAs? Under the hot lights, that outfit probably didn’t smell very good! Then again, what’s a little rotting meat stench when you’ve just inked a fragrance deal ? Boy, this Lady is a genius!
Still, while Lady Gaga is known to be fond of little monsters, after wearing that meat dress she’s lucky she didn’t get infested with little maggots!
So, do you think Lady Gaga crossed the line with her raw meat dress?
