Known for their dirty sauce and recent episode on “Man vs. Food,” Ike’s Place is saying its final goodbye at midnight tonight at their current 16th Street location.
For the last few months, there has been an uproar in neighborhood complaints regarding the noise, trash and long lines the shop brings. Since being ordered to close by the Superior Court of California, Ike’s Place hasn’t made a big effort to bring down the noise as much as they’ve made it their goal to have their last bit of fun and try to sell 5,000 sandwiches.
Unfortunately with the closing, Ike’s 47 employees will be looking for new work, although the owner is hoping to open a new San Francisco location elsewhere on 16th Street. The two current stores are in Redwood Shores and Palo Alto.
Despite all the efforts made by Ike’s management, employees, and owner today, Sept. 13th will be the last business day and Wednesday Ike’s will officially be out.
It’s only a hope of Ike’s faithful fans that they find a new, and more prime location so that the community can enjoy their uniqueness again!
