After a body of a young woman is discovered in a laundry mat, Detectives Benson and Stabler track down a serial killer and discover that he’s been raping and killing women since the 1970’s.
A box of trophies taken from the victims was discovered in the home of the supposed serial killer. Tracking down an engagement ring to a woman who was raped 40 years before leads Detective Benson to a young woman who might be her half sister. After DNA tests come up that they did not have the same father, the young woman, Vivian, confronts and murders the man who raped her mother.
The man who had been raping and murdering the women was released from prison only days before the most recent murder took place. He shared a home with another criminal whom Detectives Benson and Stabler thought was the killer but was just a pawn in the real killer’s game.
At the end of the episode, Vivian’s son turns up at the police station with a letter for Detective Olivia Benson. After questioning the boy, she finds out that his mother had left town and left her legal guardian of the boy.
I really liked this episode because it makes Olivia have to face her past again and confront a woman who was also a rape baby, making Olivia think that she has a sister since the rapes between both mothers were very similar. I can’t wait for next week’s episode to see what happens with the boy that was left in Detective Benson’s care.
