Congratulations to the proud parents, my friends (the brand new grandparents), and all of baby May’s new family.
An event occurred just yesterday,
The arrival of a new “Lemay”.
Mundane Friday, but for a few,
Cheers and tears, as dreams renew.
In one small consequence in time
The world was new and pure, sublime.
Tiny fingers reaching out
Free of fear, of want or doubt.
First breaths daring life complex,
As if to say, “I’m here. What’s next?”
A father’s heart no more his own,
A captured, stolen stepping stone,
To swell with pride and weep with joy,
And dread the words, “I’ve met a boy.”
A mother’s strength comes not by chance
To guide Lemay through life….to dance.
To nurture, discipline, and strive,
And dread the words, “Mom, can I drive?”
All in life is now so clear,
Lemay is now their shared career.
Are hers, and hers alone, to seize.
Loving family and friends
See May’s potential has no ends.
But from one much more “observative”
I would add….a new “conservative”!
