We’re down to eight couples and the fun just keeps going. This week was TV Theme week with music and costumes to match. I loved hearing some of the tunes from old favorite TV shows. Had to laugh though that some of these dancers and stars are much too young to remember them. But it didn’t stop them from shaking their stuff to the beat. Let’s get started…
My man Maksim Chmerkovsky and his partner Brandy were the first couple out on the dance floor. Their music was the theme from Jen Aniston’s “Friends” and they danced great tonight. They must be connecting a bit more these days because it shows. However, it was very annoying how Brandy kept pinching Mak’s nose. Why was she doing that? I felt like slapping her hand and telling her to stop. And while we’re talking about telling people to stop things, why does Maks always swat Tom Bergeron on the bottom when they leave to go get their scores? I’m sure it’s a private joke, but Maks, stop it! Just dance and look sexy. That’s all we ask of you.
Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas were up next. I am still truly amazed at how physically fit and agile Florence is at her age. She puts us all to shame really. Makes me want to get up off the couch and exercise. I mean she makes me WANT to, but I don’t really. It’s just a fleeting thought. I just watch her in amazement and make plans for the future to exercise. Their music theme was, of course, the Brady Bunch song. A surprise guest popped up during their rehearsals. It was none other than Greg Brady himself! We’ve all heard how while doing the show he always had a crush on Florence, so it was a hoot last night to watch him dancing with her, and then a shock when he kissed her on the lips! A little bit on the creepy side, but hey, it was nice seeing him stop by.
Dancing next to the theme from “Bewitched” was Anna Trebunskaya and Kurt Warner. I know I’ve bashed Anna a little from time to time, but I actually liked her last night, with just one exception. I’m not liking the big smile with her big gums showing. Other than that, her and Kurt danced very well and the judges seemed happy with them. And Kurt managed to get through the dance without running over to wifey-poo in the audience to make sure she wasn’t mad at him for pawing Anna.
Judge Bruno said it right. He said that Audrina Patridge was a little “plastic” as he put it. That’s the word I’ve been looking for. She’s like a doll that might break if she moves too much or too fast, so her partner Tony Dovolani has a hard time making her look sexy while she’s dancing. If she just stands still and smiles that empty smile, she looks beautiful. But that’s about it. Oh, their music was the theme from “The Hills”. Of course.
Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer got robbed of scores tonight, specifically from Len. I’m so mad at Len! He gave them a score of five – FIVE!! He’s an old fart who shouldn’t even be judging dancing anymore. That’s how mad I am. Kyle and Lacey did an absolutely fantastic job of dancing to the Charlie’s Angels theme, and Len didn’t like it. Of course he didn’t like it. It was fun and creative and entertaining, and with ballroom dancing we can’t have any of that now, can we? As I said, let’s put Len out to pasture and get someone younger to fill his spot. Oh I’m so mad.
Cheryl Burke and Rick Fox danced to the Hills Street Blues theme and as usual, it was very good. Cheryl is such a pro and never disappoints, so her partner can’t help but always look good. And Carrie Ann Inaba can’t help showing her major crush on Rick Fox. She actually gushes, it’s so cute.
Oh Bristol Bristol Bristol. What can I say? Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas danced to The Monkees theme song. But why oh why did they decide to wear monkey suits at the beginning of their dance? Bristol already looks majorly humiliated to be on stage, and this silly costume didn’t help. Oh and how about the clown nose and clown gestures during rehearsal? The whole thing was just one big embarrassment. I truly hope that Bristol is sent packing tonight so both we and her can all stop cringing.
Talk about a soap opera. Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough danced to the theme from Married With Children, and they had a little bit of interaction drama this past week. It appeared that Derek was getting all annoyed and huffy with Jennifer when she wasn’t getting the dance steps exactly right and quick enough for Derek. Derek needs to realize that he got the cream of the crop by getting Jennifer for his partner, so he should just ease up some. I like how Jennifer just walked away when she couldn’t get through to him. She was trying to tell him not to get so mad at her, but he just got madder and defensive. Typical guy, huh? So she took a walk and then came back. Jennifer knows how to handle her men. And for the record, she’s still the best dancer on the show this season. Hands down!
So my prediction (and fondest wish) is that Bristol is sent back to Alaska tonight. I managed to get in three votes last night. One for Kyle Massey because he did great and I hate Len, one for Jennifer Grey because she’s the absolute best, and one for Maksim because I love him. Next week is rock & roll week. Can’t wait for that! In the meantime, let’s see what happens tonight.
