Loved the music this week since it was Rock ‘n Roll night. The pros managed to fit in ballroom dancing to rock ‘n roll tunes with amazing choreography and we saw eyeliner on Derek Hough. But first, we watched the top ten dances of all time that people voted for. My favorite was, of course, my man Maksim Chmerkovsky and Mel B. dancing some sort of paso. They weren’t number one, but should have been, in my opinion. But let’s start talking about the regular dances tonight.
Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani were first up. Tony has been trying his best each week to wrestle some passion and some life into Audrina’s perfect, but lifeless body. Since Bruno mentioned the word “plastic” when talking about Audrina last week, Tony came up with a plan. He took Audrina boxing, and had the face of Bruno put on a dummy that Audrina used as a punching bag. Yes, she did give Bruno’s face a few good shots, but unfortunately, the second she walked on to the dance floor last night, her plastic persona and too measured dance moves were evident once more. Her face managed to look sort of intense, but that feeling didn’t reach any of her bodily moves.
GOSSIP ALERT!! GOSSIP ALERT!! Was that Erin Andrews I saw sitting in the audience? Hmmm. Does that mean that her and Maksim are still an item? Or was she just stopping by to visit? We’ll have to keep looking to see if that was really her.
Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer were next. Kyle knew he had to practice more this week in order to please the judges, so his macho brother stepped in to help. His brother put on a pretty slinky purple low-cut top and offered his dancing services to Kyle to help with practice. Hysterical, but Kyle took him up on it and practiced his little heart out this week. And it showed. He did great and the judges noticed he did good. And hopefully his brother is back to wearing manly t-shirts again.
Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough also practiced a lot this past week. We all know by now that Jennifer has some sort of metal plates in her neck, so Derek told her to tell him if he hurt her during this one particular move they were practicing. Jennifer screamed in pain, much to Derek’s horror, until he saw that she was laughing. Funny, Jennifer. Yeah, funny. You almost gave poor Derek a heart attack with that one. Honestly, I thought Jennifer and Derek did fabulous tonight, but the judges were trying to tell her to tone it down. Why, I’m not sure. My guess is that Jennifer is so obviously the best dancer this season, that they need to knock her down a few pegs in order to get people to still vote for her and not get too confident. If that’s the case, that’s a shame, because she’s trying so hard and doing so great and doesn’t deserve some of the criticism she’s getting from the judges. But then again, I think Brandy is right on her heels, so be careful Jennifer.
Cheryl Burke and Rick Fox danced to a really cool old song tonight. It was “You Really Got Me” by the Kinks from back in the day. The judges told Rick Fox to try to turn up the heat and act like he likes Cheryl, and he tried last night. He really did. But unfortunately, his facial expression looked more like he was in pain than just being intense. Let’s give him an A for trying so hard though.
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas were next. I didn’t expect much from Bristol, since she usually disappoints, but I have to say she showed a lot of improvement this week. Loved her suggestion to Mark that they do an air guitar bit during their dance. I don’t care that Len, the old fart judge, didn’t like it. We all liked it. So I will give kudos to Bristol for that. Their dance was a tango, so the air guitar looked a little out of place, but I liked it because it showed Bristol had a little life in her.
Anna Trebunskaya and Kurt Warner came out next. Another cool song choice. It was The Final Countdown that was done by Europe a long time ago. Still got me going though. During practice, Bret Michaels showed up to give Kurt some rock star lessons. So Kurt put on a bandana and did the rock greeting with his fingers and was on his way. Now I thought he did fabulous. But the judges were all party poopers tonight and gave Kurt a hard time. I seriously felt sorry for him. After those pompous judges bashed him, you could see Kurt hang his head down in shame as he was walking away with Anna to get his scores. He didn’t deserve that. Even the audience booed. That was a travesty. A travesty I tell ya.
Maksim Chmerkovsky and Brandy took their spot on stage. What is it about Maksim? I can’t even be impartial with my opinions. All I can say is that he was sexy and beautiful and that he’s the best dancer in the entire world. Do you think I’m a bit jaded in my assessment? Maybe just a tad, eh? Poor Brandy looked like she couldn’t catch her breath tonight. For a young skinny girl, she should really have more stamina. But hey, they did great. Great performance! And their scores showed that. And I noticed Maksim pat Tom Bergeron on the butt again tonight right before they left to go get their scores. Maksim, would you puh-leeeze stop it? It’s starting to look a little weird. It’s not manly. It’s icky. Stop it. It’s the only thing you do that I don’t like. Everything else you do, I love. So stop it, okay?
GOSSIP ALERT!! GOSSIP ALERT!! Yes! It WAS Erin Andrews sitting in the audience, and Brandy went over and gave her a little kiss right after her and Maks were finished dancing. I’ve searched the internet trying to see if Maksim and Erin were still a couple, but nothing has turned up. But this latest spotting of Erin sitting in the audience has got to be a clue, don’t you think? I hope so. They made a very cute couple last season. Let’s be on the lookout for any more sightings of those two.
To top off the evening, they had the marathon dance where all the couples dance at the same time, doing flips and twirls and anything else they can do without breaking their necks. One couple at a time get dismissed from the dance floor, and you’ll never guess which couple won the marathon. Why it was Maksim and Brandy of course! I never doubted. I believed. Maksim is a god.
So let’s see. Who do I think will be eliminated tonight? I think it should be Audrina or Bristol, but it will probably be poor Kurt. One by one, these stars will be eliminated until it’s down to just Jennifer and Brandy. That’s my prediction. What do you think?
