Last night, Canadian synthpop singer Lights made a stop in Pontiac at the Eagle Theater to the delight of the crowd, many of which had lined up at 7 a.m. for the show.
Lights actually made an appearance to greet the crowd before the show.
Another Canadian singer Jeremy Fisher opened the show with a solid set of his folk and blues music with songs “Cigarette” and “Scars That Never Heal” standing out.
The contrast between Fisher and Lights’ music was a bit too wide but the set was still enjoyable.
Lights took to the stage with her band in front of a glowing representation of her name.
Her set featured a huge discotheque-like light show that pulsed and changed colors along with the bass lines of her songs.
During the set she ran through most of her debut album The Listening including the fantastic “Drive My Soul”, “River” and “Lions!”.
During two of her most popular songs “Ice” and “Savior” Lights seemed to be really enjoying herself as she danced from one end of the stage to the other seeming to lose herself in the music.
Lights also played her newest single off of her upcoming second album “My Boots” which already seemed to be a huge hit with the crowd as they loudly sang along.
Halfway through the set, the band left the stage as Lights picked up a guitar for a short acoustic set that featured her breaking out into the hilarious Antoine Dodson Youtube sensation “Bed Intruder Song” after talking about songs that change your life.
Laughing about the fact that everyone knew what she was singing, she went on to perform “Fall Back Down” and “Romance Is”.
The show ended with Lights coming back out to perform her cover of the Cure’s “Close to Me” and another new song “Cactus In The Valley”.
