Lindsay Lohan has spent a lot of time in the media recently, and her presence has little to do with her career. Lindsay Lohan recently was sentenced to jail and rehabilitation. Her time in rehabilitation was cut short, however, as Lindsay Lohan’s doctors stated that she did not need the intensive treatment she had been sentenced to, due to misdiagnose of mental problems and addictions. According to the doctors at the UCLA medical center where she was treated, Lindsay Lohan showed no signs of the mental health issues she had been prescribed medication for or the addiction problems circulating in the media.
Lindsay Lohan has been in show business since she was a child, starring in many successful movies. As she grew older in the public eye, troubles with alcohol and substance abuse began to appear which led to trouble with the law and a rehabilitation stay in 2007. Since then, Lindsay Lohan has spent a large amount of time in the public eye for her indiscretions and behavior rather than her career. In her most recent run-ins, however, Lindsay Lohan and her mother Dina have time and again claimed that Lindsay was no longer having these issues and had turned her life around.
Photos spread across the television and internet of Lindsay Lohan depicted a young party girl with glazed over eyes at a club every night. Given her issues with drugs and alcohol in the past, her choice of hang-outs, and that look in her eyes, it seemed appropriate the reputation she received. If Lindsay Lohan was having addiction problems with these substances, the doctors treating her at UCLA would, you would assume, know. Did her misdiagnoses and subsequent prescription for Adderall cause Lindsay Lohan’s odd behavior?
Adderall is a drug commonly prescribed to treat ADHD, and in patients with ADHD, it can help immensely to control their symptoms. Lindsay Lohan was prescribed this medication to treat, what now appears to be, a misdiagnosis. The side effects of Adderall are long, and it can also be habit-forming. Side effects from Adderall include changes in personality and behavior, hallucinations, insomnia, and many more. Given these possibilities and the doctor’s assertion that Lindsay Lohan was not suffering from her diagnosed ADHD nor substance abuse to drugs and alcohol, it appears to be a very real possibility that Adderall could be partially to blame.
Now that Lindsay Lohan is finished with her recent jail and rehabilitation sentence and has been weaned from Adderall, her actions over the next months will determine if she has overcome her problems. A new movie co-starring Lindsay Lohan, Machete, was just released, and she is set to begin work on more projects soon. If she does well over this time, Adderall may have been a large contributing factor in her recent antics and odd behavior, if, however, she continues in the same pattern despite being weaned from the prescription drug, there may be more underlying issues troubling Lindsay Lohan.
