Apparently the “leaked” information that actress Lindsay Lohan had failed a drug screening (TMZ reported last week that there were two failed screenings, one showing positive for cocaine), those same reports that Lohan has been denying to media outlets like Us magazine, were actually true. Lindsay Lohan, fresh out of a 14-day incarceration period followed by a 22-day stint in rehab, took to her Twitter account in a series of long tweets to let her followers know that she had indeed failed a screening and was prepared for the consequences.
“Regrettably,” she posted, “I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, hat I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result.”
Judge Elden Fox took over for Judge Marsha Revel after the latter recused herself from Lohan’s case last month. He made it clear to Lindsay Lohan and her legal counsel that he would send her back to jail if she failed any of her drug screenings. At the same time, the judge has allowed Lohan to travel, which is he could have forbade.
But her traveling days may be over for awhile. According to TMZ, the “Mean Girls” star may be restricted from doing much of anything in the coming months, especially in light of failing two drug screenings. She is supposed to begin filming the Marilyn Chambers biopic “Inferno” and appear on “Saturday Night Live” in the next few weeks. A ruling that she has violated her probation could see the 24-year-old actress back in jail, missing work.
“Substance abuse is a disease,” she admitted in another post (Twitter posts are allowed a maximum of 140 characters in length), ” which unfortunately doesn’t go away over night. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps forward every day. I am testing every single day and doing what I must do to prevent any mishaps in the future.
“This was certainly a setback for me,” she continued, ” but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I’m prepared to face the consequences.”
She went on to thank her fans for their support, noted that she was a “work in progress” and said she was “hopeful.”
The Twitter posts were apparently posted in anticipation of a summons from Judge Fox.
Lindsay Lohan has become a tabloid mainstay in the last couple years, her nightclub roaming, her tumultuous relationships, and self-abusive behavior headline topics. Her recent jail time came as a result of two arrests in 2007 and a plea arrangement regarding a DUI and the presence of cocaine. Her failure to appear in court earlier this year for a progress report and her not-so-coincidental trip to Cannes for the annual film festival (where she said she lost her passport) were in part instrumental in Judge Marsha Revel finding her in violation of her probation and sentencing her to 30 days (of which she did 14).
After spending time in jail, Lindsay Lohan was forced to wear an ankle monitoring bracelet, which detects alcohol consumption from perspiration excretions. The monitor reportedly went off once, but Lohan’s mother, Dinah, said that a friend had poured a drink directly on the bracelet.
