Ways To Save Money During the Semester
As a college student each semester comes and goes quick but at the same time seems to last forever. Staying up late and waking up way to early are some components of my college life. A lot of the time in the morning I plan on packing a lunch but I end up running out of time. So instead of taking something from home I either buy overpriced food at the café or stop at Taco Bell on the way home (which is bad!).Here are some ideas of mine that I have learned worked.
1. Sometimes if I am feeling ambitious the night before I pack my lunch then! This way I have a substantial lunch that will not keep me hungry throughout the day or tempt me to purchase unhealthy foods later.
2. Grab quick and easy items from the refrigerator and cabinets. Such as yogurts, apple sauce, fruit cup, granola bars, trail mix, fruit cup, etc. And the best thing about college is that there are utensils everywhere! You pay tuition so why not utilize it by getting napkins, spoons, forks, and straws whenever you can. I really enjoy the newer utensil dispensers; you press a lever and a spoon, fork, or knife fly’s out!
3. Set a budget. I sometimes say “ok you are not going to spend more then $10 this week on food so spend it wisely”. This way if I want to get taco bell every day I can! But really I shouldn’t and you shouldn’t either.
These are just a few ideas and tips for the semester. But really you should figure something out because it will save you money and starvation in the long run. There is nothing worse then going to an exam on an empty belly.
