There will be something for everyone this year at the 84th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
According to a press release by NBC, this year’s parade will feature 15 giant character balloons including two brand new ones), 27 floats, 1600 cheerleaders, 800 clowns and a dozen marching bands.
As for celebrity performers, rapper Kanye West is set to perform at the 2010 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. But parents- don’t worry about Kanye doing a repeat performance of the song “Runaway” that he sang at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. We’re sure he’ll be sure to keep things family-friendly for the Macy’s parade.
Also on the parade lineup is the legendary Gladys Knight (although she’ll be Pip-less) , pop star Jessica Simpson, folk singer Arlo Guthrie, R&B singer India.arie and tween fave, “iCarly” star, Miranda Cosgrove.
And for you bookworms out there, get set to see the popular Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series come to life via an iconic helium balloon.
According to Wikipedia other first-time balloons for 2010 will include Kung Fu Panda, Kaikai & Kiki by Murakami, and ” Yes Virginia” (based on Virginia O’Hanlon from the famous letter Yes, Virginia There is a Santa Claus).
There will also be a float-based balloon of the Kool-Aid Man. Other floats expected to roll down the parade route include Dora’s Christmas Carol Adventure (based on the popular Nickelodeon preschooler show, “Dora the Explorer”), a float based on the movie Despicable Me, “iCarly Goes to Court” and Spirit of America Pep Rally.
But who is the real headliner of the 84th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? That would have to be the big guy who headlines this gig every year: Santa Claus.
The 2010 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be hosted by “Today Show” hosts Matt Lauer, Meredith Viera and Al Roker will air live on Thanksgiving Day November 25th starting at 9:00 a.m. ET on NBC.
