Holiday gift baskets for some can seem to be mundane and redundant because many people give and get them so often that the novelty wears off. That doesn’t have to be the case though, if you put your creative thinking hat on to come up with unique contents for healthy gift basket ideas that aren’t as run of the mill as the usual. See if these suggestions can get rid of the gift basket dull drums for your healthy holiday gift basket, and help you to extend the gift of health as well!
Store-Bought Dried Fruit Combinations
Dried fruit is a healthy snack that many health conscious people eat rather than candy or other sweets. As a health advocate, I couldn’t be happier about that, especially if you’ve purchased the dried fruit from your local health food retailer to cut back on additives and processing. You can find some yummy combinations with seeds included, or you can always purchase individual packages for more finicky types that don’t like a lot of combinations thrown together.
Homemade Dehydrated Veggies
If you own a dehydrator, you may want to consider cutting up some of your favorite veggies, dehydrating them and bagging them up to include in your basket for a great soup stock that almost anyone will love. As a rawist, I’ve personally tried these types of dehydrated veggies in a raw type of warmed soup. Those that favor cooked soups will find that this type of soup is every bit as good as any cooked version. Or those that are big on hot soup will love these veggies in their favorite soup, too. They’re great either way.
Homemade Dehydrated Fruit
Dehydrating your own fruit can create some fun for your healthy gift basket as well! What’s nice about doing your own dehydrating is the variety that you can achieve. Included with all of your more common types of fruits, you can add more exotic types like star fruit, kiwi, mango, plantains and other more unique types of fruit. Another plus to dehydrating your own fruit for baskets is there are less additives and processing, which translates into more vibrant color coming from the food to enhance the look of your healthy holiday gift basket.
Assorted Nuts and Seeds Both Raw and Roasted
Finish your healthy holiday basket with some nuts or seeds raw and roasted alike. Having the variety of both types in your basket will make it possible for the person receiving your gift to experience both of these types of whole foods. They’ll probably find that they love them both, too! Maybe not, but at the very least they’ll have had the opportunity to taste both varieties.
Hopefully you’ll find a couple of these suggestions are a possibility for the special person in your life that you want to keep healthy this holiday season!
