Who doesn’t use Post-It notes? Whether you work in an office or not the handy stick-it notes are part of many people’s lives. Instead of searching for the pad of Post-It notes up each time you want to tear off a sheet, make a Post-It note holder, and you’ll never have to do that again. Simply stack the colored paper squares in the holder and they stay neat and organized – and never lost.
There are several different Post-It note holders the average person can make. Although Post-It notes now come in many sizes and shapes these holders are for the ones that are 3″x3″. To get started choose the holder you want to design.
Make one type of Post-It note holder by using a small cardboard box. The box should be between 3″ and 4″, square. The box should not be especially shallow; it should be deep enough to hold at least a couple of pads of the notes. Wrap the box in fabric or paper to create the theme or color you want. Now, choose one side of the box and cut out an arch shape. Start at the top corner of the box, a half-inch or so from the corner, and cut down towards the bottom. Curve as you head towards the bottom and stay about an inch away from the bottom edge. Now curve back up to the opposite corner of the box, about a half-inch away as you did on the first side.
Make a different Post-It note holder by using craft foam. The flat foam is available in many different colors; you’ll only need one sheet to make the holder. Cut one long piece that is 14″ long and 3.5″ wide. Cut one square piece of foam that is 3.5″x3.5″. Glue the two short ends of the long foam piece together so that the band is now a circle.
Set the square piece of foam on a table and apply the glue around the perimeter, right next to the edges. Set the circle of foam on the square, but as you do, pinch the corners to conform them to the four corners on the base square. This way, the foam circle becomes a foam square that surrounds the base. As with the cardboard box note holder, cut an arch shape from one side of the cube.
You know you’re going to be using lots and lots of Post-It notes so you might as well make one of these easy note holders. That way, you’ll never have to search for the pad again, and even when you find it, you won’t have to pick the pad up to tear off a sheet!
