The American Cancer Society will be holding its annual “Making Strides Against Cancer event on Sunday October 17, 2010. This is a 5 mile walk
around downtown Cincinnati and Newport. The walk starts at 9:00am with registration beginning at 8:00am at Yeatmans Cove. The goal of this event is to honor the survivors of breast cancer, remember those who were lost to this disease, raise funds for research, education, prevention programs, awareness, treatment and one day a cure.
There is no entrance fee, participants are free to set there own fund raising goals. However you can sign up on the American Cancer’s site to register and manage you fund raising efforts and have people contribute to your efforts. Last year there was over 700,000 participates to Making strides events last year, and the events raised over $60 million dollars.
This is a family friendly event so get everyone to know to participant for great cause family members, co-workers, friends and clubs and organizations. Locally, several corporations are involved in sponsoring this event including, Kroger, Curves, The Christ Hospital, Tide, WCPO, Q102, Cincy Magazine, and B105.1FM.
