Tonight’s results show had all of the drama one would expect after the events of Monday night. Sarah Palin was in the house, again, in support of Bristol. And, the hosts of the show made no bones about getting to the heart of the matter on a few key subjects.
To start things off, Tom Bergeron inquired of judge Bruno Tonioli whether or not he thought his comments toward Michael Bolton were too harsh on Monday night. Bruno, however, would not admit that he could have been nicer. Len Goodman spoke up and berated Bruno for going at Bolton instead of providing some constructive criticism. Michael himself even stated that Bruno was disrespectful.
As always on results night, there were outside entertainers to keep things light. Singer Janelle Monae performed her single Tightrope and brought some funk to the DWTS stage. Later in the show, Seal took a turn singing The Weight of My Mistakes from his new album “Commitment”.
DWTS co-host Brooke Burke then addressed the rampant speculation in the press about whether or not Sarah Palin was booed during Monday night’s show. In an effort to clear things up, an unaired clip was shown of the judges directly after they delivered Jennifer Grey’s scores, which is when the booing occurred. The clip clearly shows that the audience was booing the judges’ scores and not Sarah Palin.
We got to find out some of the unusual traditions that the dancers have before they perform. For example, Cheryl Burke puts hand sanitizer on her armpits. Derek Hough wears two pairs of socks. Corky Ballas smells the dance floor on the day of a performance. Maks and Tony throw the football around outside of the studio. Everyone seems to have their own strategy (I call it superstition) for dealing with the pressure of performing on live television.
The bottom two couples of the night were not entirely surprising. Given the poor scores received from the judges, Michael Bolton must have expected that he would be in jeopardy. The Situation and Karina were also at the bottom. At the end of the day, Michael Bolton just didn’t quite measure up, and he became the second star voted off.
