There is speculation that Republican National Chairman Michael Steele is on his way out. This innuendo of the forthcoming actuality of his departure is in no way unexpected. After the election of President Obama in 2008, the Republican Party needed to have the face and voice of an African American male for America and the world to see. They needed to say “We Have A Black Man Among our Midst Too”. They chose former Maryland Lieutenant Governor, Michael Steele as that man.
The Republicans used Steelee to forward their agenda and to get back into the house from which they had been expelled by the actions of Americans with their votes. Perhaps someone forgot to tell Mr. Steelee that he was”Steele” a Black Man in America. Since he has served the Republicans well, he must now go back to the field; the crop of independent and tea party votes have been harvested and the yield was a significant one. I believe that Mr. Steele is an intelligent man but he must realize that he was used to further the GOP agenda. He was used to open the door of the White House so that the Republicans could barricade the legacy and change of President Obama. Not American’s Black President, but rather the first President who happened to be of African American descent. They now have the seats that they wanted to block the president agenda and Mr. Steele’s services are no longer required.
Americans will see if the newly elected Republicans will have any real effect on reversing or abolishing the problems they blame on democrats and mostly President Obama. Time will tell if Republicans or any politician ever keeps a campaign promise. President Obama has kept his promise of Health Care reform and the threat that he might keep more promises has GOP’s scratching the financial dandruff of their tax shelters so harshly that they began to drink a cure all drink called tea party Washington. Personally I find politicians and keep promises to be oxymoronic. The very nature of the beast called politics makes it difficult for one to keep their integrity and maneuver the maze of deal making, butt kissing and give me get that is politics.
I am reminded of the Reagan presidency and how my family barely survived his term in office. The current economic situation is a nightmare created by a Republic named George W Bush. It is one that America blames on President Obama. Do you really expect this president in less than half of his presidential term to make problems disappear that took eight years to create? Did you think that he had some magic spell to make it go away? That is what I know about Republicans, they make a mess and then blame it on others mostly Democrats. Americans keep falling for the GOP Okeedoke right hook and each time we do, we get knocked down.
History tells us that the actions of both parties have caused damaged and mistrust among the American people. History, broken promises and common sense dictate that words don’t mean a thing, if you ain’t got the swing and the support of the American people. So the ball again is in your court Republicans, we will all just sit in the ballpark of our American lives and see if you strike out or hit the ball out of the park.
My message to Mikey (Michael) Steele is that I feel your pain, being used and soon to be abused, I feel your pain, you will be soon knocked down, but you can get up.
Post Script: Today, January 14, 2011, the Republicans showed thier appreciation and also showed Mickey the door.
