Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a game in which most players that play it are highly competitive. In order to win, even the slightest advantage or knowledge will give you the edge over your opponent. Here are some tips that I have found out while playing that should help you also become a better gamer.
Tip 1: Always be sprinting. When I am playing, I never let my hand of the left analog stick. Make sure you are always running towards the next vantage point; especially in game types like Search and Destroy or Domination, getting to the most important positions on the map is key.
Tip 2: Always have stopping power on. Unless you’re using a weapon that doesn’t need stopping power such as the FA MAS or the UMP, you should equip this perk. It will give you the edge in a firefight in a game where only a few bullets kill and you die often.
Tip 3: Make sure someone on your team has the UAV killstreak set up. Or maybe even a couple people, the more the merrier. Although it is only 3 kills, the UAV is the most important killstreak in call of duty. It shows your team where the enemy team is at all times. In my experience, the team that has constant UAV up ALWAYS wins.
Tip 4: Run the outskirts of the map. In Modern Warfare 2, the interior of the map is usually the killing field, and you usually want to avoid running through those areas. Instead sneak around the outskirts of the map, catching anyone dumb enough to rush in a flanking position.
Tip 5: Don’t always aim in! When you’re in a close quarters firefight, you don’t have time to aim in on your sights. Hip firing is much more effective at close range, especially coupled with the steady aim perk.
Tip 6: Communicate with your team. Communication is key in all first person shooters, and will win you many games if done right. Try calling out where you see an enemy, and warn your team about them instead of saying nothing.
Tip 7: Know where the enemy spawns. In game modes like Team Deathmatch or Sabotage, the enemy may spawn in different areas than from when the game started. If you know where the enemy spawns all the time, you will rarely get killed from behind.
Follow these tips and I guarantee you that you will become a better COD player.
