What you need for a breakfast casserole is:
You can prepare this breakfast casserole the night before or the day of. If you choose the night before, follow the same instructions except when to cook.
1 lbs sausage, cooked.
1/4 cup milk
1/2 green pepper, chopped
1/2 onion, chopped
You can add things like chopped mushrooms too.
1 cup of shredded cheese, cheddar is recommended
6 slices of thick bread (Texas Toast)
Preheat the oven to 350 degree, if you are cooking at the time of preparation. Skip this step if you are preparing the night before, you will bake in the morning.
In a bowl, beat the eggs. Then add the milk, green pepper, onions, mushrooms (or what you’ve decided to put in the casserole), then salt and pepper lightly.
Next, prepare a baking pan (12 x 10″) with non-stick or butter.
Then line the bottom of the prepared pan with bread. Sprinkle the prepared sausage on the bread. Then pour the egg mixture over the bread. The mixture should completely cover the bread. Add cheese.
If you are preparing the night before, cover and refrigerate.
If you are baking at the time of preparation, let sit about 15 minutes so the bread has time to absorb some of the egg mixture and bake.
Bake covered for 25 to 30 minutes or until the egg mixture has set.
