My doctor says I look great, but I am actually 45 lbs. overweight. By the time I look obese it will be too late. I am 45 lbs. overweight and I wish my doctor was more concerned about it.
I am 5’4″ tall and I have a small frame. My ideal weight is 115 lbs. which is what I weighed when I graduated high school. Using that as a healthy basis, I should not be more than 10% heavier or lighter than the weight I was when I was eighteen. That gives me a range between 103.5 and 126.5. It also works out if I use the ideal weight calculations from Dr. Oz, which is 105 pounds for 5 feet of height, plus 5 pounds for each additional inch for women or 106 pounds for 5 feet of height , plus 6 pounds for each additional inch for men. With his method, I should be about 125 pounds.
I am currently 161 lbs. Yikes, this is the most I have ever weighed outside of pregnancy. Although I feel good and most people think I look good, it cannot be good for my body to be carrying around so much excess weight.
The top waist size for women according to Dr. Oz is 32″. I am currently right at 32″. I wish my doctor was concerned and telling me to lose weight. I love her dearly and respect her opinions and diagnosis of my health which makes me wonder why she is not telling me to lose weight now.
When would she tell me, when I look morbidly obese? When I can no longer reach my own shoes to tie them? When I have a heart attack or stroke?
Just being 30 pounds overweight can increase your blood pressure, build plaque in your arteries and make you susceptible to many diseases and illnesses according to the American Heart Association. Why isn’t my Physician screaming at me to maintain better health. She should be telling me that I need to lose weight before our next visit instead of telling me how good I look.
I keep starting and stopping weight loss, exercise and diet plans. This time, I will stick with it. I will exercise for two hours every day because I know that I need to. I will increase the amount of healthy vegetables and fruit that I consume and I will stop eating poor nutritional value foods such as fast foods and packaged foods.
Hopefully, I will have lost the weight and look great by Christmas. Wish me luck.
