I was talked into coloring my hair to remove traces of gray by my youngest daughter, now 15. She is apparently embarrassed to be seen with an older-looking mom. I laugh at this, because most of her friends have moms that had children when they were teenagers, and I was in my late thirties and her dad in his mid-forties when we decided to conceive her. So yes, my hair is starting to gray, but hey, I know lots of women younger than I with lots more gray on their head. Still, since she was embarrassed, I did my part and tried coloring my hair. To my surprise, I really liked the result and am going to continue to color my hair (a natural-looking hair color).
I was very pleased to find a product that stated it was made with natural products and had fruit oil in it to help protect my hair. What I was most interested in, though, was finding products I could use to protect my hair after I colored it. After searching for a while, I found that Pantene has products that are designed to protect your hair no matter what type of hair you have. The Pantene website states that the new Pantene transforms your hair into the hair you want, whether your hair is fine, medium, thick, curly or colored. My hair used to be fine and is now considered to be medium. Funny how giving birth to 3 daughters can make your hair thicker. It must have been all those prenatal vitamins or hormones. I have been using the Pantene Pro-V Color Hair Solutions products for a few weeks now, and really love the results.
The Pantene Color Hair Solutions bottle is mostly white, which is okay, but they could have made the cap a different color so it is easier to find when trying to open it in the shower. Reading the back label, I discovered that hair that is colored could become dull over time because of structural changes caused by coloring it. Colored hair reflects light, and the structural changes in the hair can change the way the light is reflected. The Pantene Color Hair Solutions shampoo contains micro-polishers that smooth and refinish the outer layer of hair, so the hair shines. The consistency of the shampoo is lighter than I expected, and it rinsed off leaving my hair feeling soft in the shower.
The Pantene Color Hair Solutions Conditioner was also lighter to the touch than I expected. I gently applied it to my hair and left it on for about two minutes. It rinsed off easily and did not leave my fingers or hands feeling greasy at all. I loved how soft my hair was while wet and also after it aired dry. I never use a hair dryer. I don’t like to damage my hair with all of those hair styling appliances, and my hair typically dries pretty fast naturally.
Color Nourishing Treatment
The Pantene Color Hair Solutions Color Nourishing Treatment is a product you use once a week on hair that has been colored. The product is designed to help seal in the color and actually make your hair shine more than if you did not use any product other than a shampoo and or conditioner. I always use a hair conditioner on my hair after shampooing to prevent my hair from drying out. I feel this is even more important if you color your hair.
The color nourishing treatment is thick but easily rinses out. I used it after shampooing in place of the conditioner and left it in my hair for two minutes. Then I rinsed it out. I chose a day that I would remember each week (Saturday), because I like to look good for church early on Sunday morning. Every Saturday night when I wash my hair, I use the Pantene Pro-V Color Hair Solutions Color Nourishing Treatment instead of the hair conditioner.
My hair looks great seven weeks after coloring it. The color is still true, and my hair is soft and shiny. I believe that the reason the color has lasted and my hair looks and feels great is because I have found wonderful products to care for my colored hair. I am very happy with the new Pantene products for colored hair and would recommend them to everyone who colors their hair.
