Reminiscing on the nostalgic candy of my childhood can start in many ways, tasting the sweet candy is just one of simple ways to bring back a flood of memories. I still enjoy a great deal of the same candies as when I was a child and I pass those same sweets on to my son, I firmly believe a small treat can go a long way.
Almond Joy is a top favorite nostalgic candy for kids in my book and always takes me down a fond memory lane. Remembering how Grandpa and I would go for drives, stop by the store, pick up a pack of Almond Joys and eat them all. I am hoping to pass down this little family tradition to my son, in the hopes that he will enjoy it as much as I.
Twix is another nostalgic candy for kids that Grandpa would pick up for us on our sight seeing drives. I have plenty of happy memories surrounding those special days. At times I still indulge myself in the cookie candy and share with my son, as my Grandpa did with me. I share the stories with my son about the fun times his Great-Grandpa and I had sneaking a few candy bars behind Grandmas back.
Dum Dum Suckers
Dum Dum Suckers where usually the easiest candy I could get my hands on as a kid, since they were the ones freely given away at banks and doctors offices. Dum Dum Suckers quickly became a favorite candy of mine, with many various flavors to choose from. Now it passes on to my son as he calls for his “sucker,” a nostalgic candy for kids that I do not mind passing down to his generation.
Nerds has been a favorite nostalgic candy for kids, at least for my generation. My friends and I would go crazy for the bold-in-your-face sweetness, it was always a special treat to find tucked away in a Halloween bucket. I have always loved how different Nerds are from the rest of the candy with their unique texture and crazed sugar buzz. My son has taken on my love for Nerds and I have no problem letting him eat one of my favorite nostalgic candy for kids treats, on rare occurrence.
Nothing cured my sugar craving as a kid as much as a Skor Bar, the butter toffee got me every time. My Mom introduced me to these and I have been in love ever since I had my first bite. My son and I will sit down and enjoy a Skor bar together, as long as he does not try to hog the candy I am good, a great nostalgic candy for kids treat.
