Yesterday I was on a local talk show on ABC. I was nevous but excited to have the chance to talk about my company Voice of Joy and book Joining the Dance of Life. I was greeted by the receptionist and sat for a short time in a beautiful lobby. Then the Associate Producer came and introduced herself and told me when I would be on. Luckily I was going to be second- so that was good!
I waited in the studio and low and behold there was another author who was going to talk before me. She had written a book for women who have lost their husbands. I let her know how important her book was and I was sure it would help many people.
As the time grew closer I was getting more nervous. I could feel my legs start to shake.I noticed another person who was going to talk and he seemed very comfortable.I introduced myself and asked if he had been on before. As it turns out he is on every Tuesaday and talks about lndscaping. I asked if he had any points for a newbie. He said to be myself and forget the cameras and treat it as if I was having a conversation with someone. His words were so helpful!
Well- then my turn came! The hosts were very nice. It was a man and woman.I especially liked the man. He had a good sense of humor and seemed very kind. Before we started he laughed and said ” You can sit closer to me if you want.” I was sitting pretty far away. It relaxed me a bit.
One thing I thought was amuzing was the camera moved on it’s own.I didn’t think about the camera and focused on the questions. He asked if people had always noticed how I had joy and where it came from. They asked about how people can find joy in their life and other questions.I also explained about my company.
Then it was completed. I shook their hands and thanked them. The man who gave me advice came over and hugged me saying,” You did a wonderful job!”
Two of the staff told be I was ” fabulous”. They looked a little surprised. Probably because I was so nervous before.
I should add- before going I prayed that people would see Jesus and not me and that I would express his compassion. The kindness from the staff and especially from the landscaper was incredible!
I am so grateful and it made me realize I need to give others the same compassion and support they gave me. They were awesome!!
