It was an amazing Key Quest week at Neopets! I managed to bank some extra keys and picked up five gold keys. I am holding off on redeeming those until the Summer Ti-Key promotion is over. I did cash out a couple of them and got really crappy prizes so I will keep on turning in the silver keys until summer is over. As expected, there are a lot of immature players that quit if they are not winning; as I have said before, even if you end up with a silver key it is still a key that you can redeem at the PrizeVault and get three prizes from – and you are also getting the Neopoints that you earned while playing the game. I had seven people flat out quit when I had four keys (out of a possible five). I understand that there are glitches and there are times when it is impossible to finish a game but these people were just being spiteful.
My current key total:
Gold: 27 Silver: 268 Bronze: 43 Lead: 69
Key 1 – Silver – “The Secret of Treasure Island”, “Moon and Stars Background”, “Usuki Summer Fashion Set”
Key 2 – Silver – “Eo Codestone”, “Yurble Tales”, ‘Island Grarrl Plushie”
Key 3 – Silver – “Ghoti”, “Anshu Stamp”, “Deep Seashell”
Key 4 – Silver – “Super Icy Negg”, “A Kau Summer”, “Hanging Fruit Basket”
Key 5 – Silver – “Maraqua Colouring Book”, “Bubble Sculptures”, “Mystery Island Kougra Stamp”
Key 6 – Silver – “Negg”, “Toast Treats”, “Island Pteri Plushie”
Key 7 – Silver – “Tai-Kai Codestone”, “Moon and Stars Background”, “Shoyru Summer”
Key 8 – Silver – “Orange Grundo Wardrobe”, “Anshu Stamp”, “Mystery Island Paperback Book”
Key 9 – Silver – “Island Cybunny Guide”, “Kazeriu Stamp”, “Conch Shell”
Key 10 – Silver -“Everlasting Crystal Apple Stamp”, “Bone Vault Background”, “Life Is Good”
What is Key Quest Etiquette? There are no set rules for the game; there are cards that can steal keys, place piles of dung on the board to block movement and cards that can reverse your token but I never play them on people. The only time I will reverse someone’s movement is if it benefits them and they can win the game. I do not like long drawn out games because that just increases the chance of a glitch happening. There is a limit of 50K NP that you can earn per day but there is no limit on the number of keys. If you come across someone that loves fast games you can complete on it in a matter of minutes but finding those folks can be tough. Quitting mid game because you are losing is a great way to get frozen; I don’t report people for quitting but if I create a game and they join I will back out of the game before it starts and wait for someone else to join. There are ruthless people that will play cards on you that have absolutely no benefit to them; if you already have three green keys and use a Super Key Grabber to take two of mine what’s the point?
Ultimately I would like to see Neopets impose a 30 minute Key Quest ban if you quit a game; if you quit you should be locked out of the portal for a set amount of time. They should also have a feedback form at the end of the game where you can leave information for them about in-game glitches or things that went wrong. This would help the game designers improve certain aspects of it and eventually address problems that happen like your mouse disappears from the game board or there is a freeze at the end of a mini game. I would suggest having a “+” or “-” system to rate other players (if they quit, are rude etc) but that is something that would be highly abused by the sore losers or people who don’t win a gold key every time.
