So this coming New Year, I’m going to make some fashion resolutions. I have been wearing the same style of clothing for too long, and I finally think it’s time for a change. It’s time for a fashion makeover, a new look, a new style attitude.
1.) Winter does not have to equal dowdy and frumpy. I resolve to step up my fashion game this winter.
I’ll admit it, I hate winter. I hate it because I’m one of those people who is always cold. I hate the dry skin, lips, and hair it gives me. I hate it because I’m a summer girl who loves bare feet and tank tops. Because I hate winter, I also tend to hate winter clothing. So I just put on a long sleeved shirt, a pair of jeans, a pair of big and dirty, but warm and comfy boots, and an oversize jacket and leave the house looking dumpy but feeling warm. But I need to get over that, so I resolve to make amends with winter clothing and embrace it. I’m going to start wearing a pair of cute, stylish knee high boots. I’m going to find a way to layer so that my outfit is cute and warm at the same time. I’m going to wear more skirts and dresses in the winter–so what if it’s cold outside? It’s not like I’ll be staying outside if I’m going somewhere. I want to focus a bit more on style and a bit less on just wearing whatever is easiest to put on, and forsaking everything else for the sake of warmth.
2.) I resolve to wear more accessories.
Let’s face it, accessories are great. They’re cute, they’re relatively inexpensive, and they’re a great way to spice up a blah outfit of an outfit you’ve grown tired of. But up to this point, I haven’t been much of an accessory girl. I just haven’t been willing to put forth the effort to buy and wear accessories. But that’s going to change. I’m going to start adding earrings, necklaces, rings, and bracelets to my outfits. I’m going to find cute hats and pretty scarves. I’m going to buy nice belts. I’m going to be creative with my accessorizing.
3.) Casual dressing is comfy, but it doesn’t need to be done all the time. I resolve to dress up more often.
I’m a pretty casual dresser. As I said earlier, I have a tendency to wear nothing but jeans in the winter. In the summer, I wear lots of cute skirts and dresses, but they’re always casual and I wear them with flip flops. I don’t need to dress up for my job, so I hardly have any dress clothes. I own 2 pairs of high heels, and they’re both too uncomfortable for me to wear for more than an hour at time so I only wear them to weddings. But all this is going to change. I’m going to start buying dressier outfits, such as fancier dresses and skirts. I’m going to find nicer, dressier shoes to wear with my new dressy outfits. I’m going to find myself a comfortable pair of high heels (or 2) that fits so I can wear them for more than an hour. I’m going to dress more like an adult and less like a girl in high school. And if I feel like I don’t have anywhere to wear my new dress clothes, I will find a place to go where I can. I will make occasions to wear them myself if I have to. ]
So there you have it, my fashion resolutions. Hopefully I will be looking a lot more sophisticated and stylish in 2011. So what about you? What are your fashion resolutions? Feel free to share them in the comments!
