I always wanted to make a difference. I always felt the need to help people and even helpless animals. I started to research volunteer opportunities in Nashville. There are tons of organizations who need our help. Here are some volunteer opportunities I have found in the Nashville area.
5-New Leash on Life
Their mission is to educate the public on how important it is to spay or neuter their pets. Their goal is to provide shelter and homes for abused and abandoned animals and to control an overpopulation of pets. There are several ways to volunteer. You can join the group called The Guardian Guild. This group contributes money every month via online. Donations start anywhere from $25 and up. You can adopt an animal and give it a safe loving home or you can take the biggest step of all check out the online website above and see if you qualify to become a volunteer. There are free volunteer applications but please make sure you have time and are serious.
4- Project Return, Inc.
Project Returns helps individuals with juvenile or criminal records turn their lives around. They help individuals become educated and successful instead of keeping them in the system. There are several different programs such as, pre-release classes for women, job readiness classes, and project success. You can volunteer or make a financial contribution by contacting Bobby Daniel’s who’s information can be found at the web address above.
3-Nashville Adult Literacy Council
THE NALC is a non-profit organization that teaches reading to U.S. born adults and English skills to adult immigrants. This is such an important program for those individuals who suffer from illiteracy. You can become a volunteer by visiting the webpage above and filling out a volunteer application. Teaching one person how to read can make a huge impact in their lives and yours.
2-Sports for All Foundation
Their mission is to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities by keeping them active by participating in sports and recreational activities. Thanks to partnerships, volunteers, and retailers they have over 2500 pieces of equipment to help aid in the process of events and recreational activities. You can make a difference by donating online or by mail. You can also volunteer by visiting the above link. This is a great way to help someone feel special and accomplished.
Their mission is to open there doors to anyone affected by HIV and AIDS who is in need of care and comfort. Nashville Cares provides education and raises awareness of the HIV Virus. They also provide HIV testing and screening and provide prevention and educational materials on the virus. This organization has over 300 volunteers. Volunteers help deliver food to those in need and help answer questions for those living with the disease. There are also special events such as the AIDS walk and Artrageous with the help of volunteer staff members. If you would like to volunteer for this worthy cause you must call or email Diane Bracey to set up an interview (her contact info is listed on the webpage above).
