There are a few natural cures for facial twitches that are simple to use and can help make your facial twitches fade quickly, leaving you with a face that isn’t bugging you all day. If you have a persistent eye, lip, chin, cheek, or any facial twitch that is just irritating you to no end, try these simple tips to get rid of them fast.
Try a little massage and relaxation. A sudden eye twitch that just bugs the hell out of you is typically caused by stress or anxiety. Lean your head back and gently massage the area that is twitching, to relax the spasming muscles. Do this for about 5 minutes or so, and then either take a nice, soothing bath, or drink a hot cup of chamomile, peppermint, or ginger tea to relax your whole body, boost your mood and circulation, and relax those tense, twitchy muscles in your face.
Eat a banana, or take a magnesium pill. A daily supplement may be all you need to make your persistent facial twitching go away. Facial twitching and muscle twitches are often caused by a lack of minerals or electrolytes, so break out the Gatorade or Pedialyte and your facial twitching should diminish.
Try a warm cloth on your face, hot as you can stand. The steaming heat relaxes your facial muscles and puts your body at ease, making those tense muscles quit spasming so much, even if you only have 5 minutes to spare.
Consume less caffeine, which ups the body’s stress and anxiety levels, and try to exercise at least 30 minutes daily to help the body use all its excess energy and relax for a great night’s sleep. With moderate exercise and less stimulants in the body, your body stresses less and is able to get a better rest at night, leaving you well-rested and with fewer facial and muscle twitching.
If you have a facial or muscle twitch that just plain won’t go away, or is bothering you so much you cannot blink correctly, swallow, speak, or cannot focus on anything but the annoying twitching, see your doctor to rule out other medical conditions, such as poor diet, neurological diseases, or ample stress and get you back to normal.
