Genital acne can happen- just like facial acne, there are glands in our groin, armpits, and nipples, called apocrine glands, that can get clogged and leave us with painful, red zits that are embarrassing to have and can be difficult to get rid of. Since our genitals are a perfect moist, sweaty, bacteria-laden area for the glands to become affected, from time to time, a zit is bound to appear, and regular facial acne treatments will cause more harm than good. Learn how to be rid of genital acne (and armpit and nipple acne) quickly and naturally.
First of all, avoid wearing tight or constrictive clothing that trap moisture and sweat in your genital area and can make the acne worse. Opt for cotton underwear and try to keep your groin as dry as possible. Wash your genital area thoroughly with a very mild soap and water, or just water, and pat the area completely dry.
Two oils known for aiding in acne in sensitive areas are tea tree oil and lavender oil. Both have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and are sensitive enough on the skin to be used on the groin and inner thighs to treat genital acne. Just be sure to not get these oils inside your genitals or in the anus, which can cause bacteria transference and cause other genital issues. Apply these oils in small amounts to the genital acne twice a day after washing until the acne clears.
If you fear an STD or are just unsure what the bumps or irritation is in your groin area, see your doctor to rule out any other condition. Genital acne is fairly common, and may be embarrassing, but it is easily treatable.
