Getting across the Brooklyn Bridge is tough enough, but if you have to get to some middle of the road Brooklyn destination like Prospect Heights and you’re trying to get a yellow cab, good luck!
Yellow cabs have always given grief about having to brave the harrowing sites of gridlock, midday afternoon traffic crossing from Manhattan to Brooklyn. However recent reports from The NY Post, as reported by Gothamist (1) indicate that the Post’s canvassing of “lower Manhattan…found that nearly half the cabbies refused to take them over the bridge.”
This could be because Manhattan cab drivers are snobs; this could be because of all the bike riding in Brooklyn, cabbies would never get a fare coming back. It also could be because of the snarling bridge work which has been going on at the Brooklyn Bridge.
And while Prospect Heights may be a far cry on foot from midtown Manhattan, if you’re limber and able, consider the bike!
