Positive Inspiration for Today
“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” James 3:17 (NIV version of the Bible).
Today has been a really good day. I’m using my positive thinking tools and just generally enjoying life. Because things are going so well today I’m going to share something that there wasn’t room for in Saturday’s article. One of the great things I learned in Saturday’s Tai Chi training was the idea of deflection. In Tai Chi it was about deflecting a physical attack but I’m thinking here more about verbal ones. Throughout the Tai Chi training day we were instructed to release all of our worries and when doing a particular move to “let the weight of the world roll off your shoulders”. The combination of the concepts of deflection and letting things roll off my shoulders gave me an aha moment. In choosing optimism I can also choose to let the negativity of the world roll off my shoulders. I never have to accept it for a second. I can deflect negativity and embrace the positive.
Choosing a Positive Attitude
Speaking of choices, Francesca Reigler made a good point when she said “Happiness is an attitude. We either make ourselves miserable, or happy and strong. The amount of work is the same.” Really, every day, whether we consciously do so or not, we’re choosing our state of mind and embracing and deflecting all kinds of thoughts. Choosing to focus on the positive makes me feel better and I think it makes me more productive too. I used to waste so much time worrying or berating myself unnecessarily. Now I when I have these kinds of negative thoughts I can decide wither it’s most appropriate to deflect them, pray about them or take some kind of positive action to improve the situation and then release the negativity. I don’t have to carry any negativity within myself. I can be infused with joy, optimism and happiness by the choices I make.
Thank you for joining me on my journey to reduce negativity and increase optimism. I wish you abundant joy, health and positive thinking.
