Pardon Me For Asking checked in to the new barber shop that has opened up in the store front that used to house “Sal’s” barbershop at 299 Smith Street, right on the threshold between Carroll Gardens and Gowanus.
Sal’s was run by Giorgio Zocco, who passed away unexpectedly earlier this year. Giorgio had, in this spot, given “haircuts to generations of Carroll Gardeners.”
The new shop, called “Person’s of Interest,” was opened on Tuesday, October 26th by Steve Marks, whom PMFA reports is a local resident that knew Zocco. Steve “felt there was still a need in the neighborhood for a barber shop, albeit one that would attract a younger clientele” and so took over the shop.
Steve retained the basic feel of the shop, including the barber chairs, the barber pole, and the “tropical wall posters.”
