How many of us dream of traveling to the far corners of the world to take advantage of the great bargains available to visitors to 3rd world countries, the Far East, Hong Kong, Taiwan or India for example?
Well I have some great news for you all! With a little bit of research you may find similar bargains right here in the good old USA! This week I discovered Santee Alley in the heart of downtown Los Angeles.
This remarkable shopping area right in the heart of the L.A. Fashion district has bargains galore!
My wife bought 4 (yes 4) beautiful dresses at the amazing price of $15.00 each. The perfect pair of grey slacks that she had been searching Las Vegas for at the unbelievable price of $8.95!
Tucked away in a little side street was a Persian café that served a great selection of goodies and a clean toilet! Both hard to find in this bustling area. Mind you we did enjoy the cart vendors tacos and hot dogs, not to mention their delicious fruit cups!
We were so impressed we visited twice during our week long stay in L.A.
On my second trip I purchased a beautiful tailored and embroidered Jacket normally priced at over $100 for $29.95! Did I mention shoes. My wife only bought two pairs and matching hand bags whilst yours truly couldn’t resist a beautiful pair of Blue Suede Shoes trimmed with paten leather, normally priced at $135.00 for $9.95. I had bought a ‘regular’ pair of brown slip-ons on my earlier visit for the same price.
I have been fortunate enough to shop in Hong Kong and main land China amongst other bargain centers and I can tell you from experience I can’t recall seeing a greater variety of bargains than I did on Santee Alley.
The location is not hard to find – set your GPS for Olympic Blvd. or Los Angeles St. in Downtown L.A. off I.10 or 101 freeways.
On the other end of the scale we paid what I consider an outlandish price ($38.00 each) for a bucket of Seafood tipped onto our table which consisted of more potatoes and corn on the cob than seafood, at the Crab Pot in Long Beach. Still they did have a $1.00 special daily menu at the front of the restaurant, and a marvelous atmosphere surrounded by yachts and million dollar boats of every description!
I think I enjoyed my Santee Alley hot dog more!
Try the Strawberry fruit cup.
