Today I went to one of my new favorite restaurants, Sea Blue Seafood Café, for lunch. I reviewed it when it first opened and have since been back three times. It is in the corner of a strip center and as I parked noticed a place next to it that was not there a few days ago when I last passed it. It seems a Houston pizza restaurant opened with little fanfare and it had only been open a short time. So after lunch I went in and got a flier with their pizza menu and some coupons and asked if they also did pizza delivery in Houston. The manager or owner, I’m not sure which, was friendly and helpful and let us know they did deliver pizza in Houston to the 77095 zip code. So off we went with the pizza coupons and menu but as the day progressed and we felt less like cooking, pizza sounded good.
Mr. Jim’s Ordering and Pizza Delivery in Houston
Mr. Jim’s has an online ordering process and this is where we started first. However, there was a problem with the order because when we put in the coupon code we were using a different offer came up than the one we had on the printed coupon. So, we called in the pizza instead and let them know about the issue. Apparently for ordering online you get free points. I have no clue what points are and what they are worth because I saw no explanation on this Houston pizza shop’s website but I still miss my points.
We called at 5:52 pm on September 1, a Wednesday. It took exactly four minutes to complete the order and as this was our first time had to give them address and phone information. We were given an estimated thirty minute pizza delivery time. Our pizza arrived 23 minutes later. However, we had to flag down the driver because apparently there was a digit missing in the address. The person who took the order did not repeat it to us so it was missed. Regardless, it was still early and the pizza delivery person was friendly.
Mr. Jim’s – Was this good Houston pizza?
The most important part of a pizza, in my opinion, is the taste. Mr. Jim’s Pizza delivers. No pun intended. We got two large pizzas: The Sticky Fingers and Beddar Cheddar Burger.
Sticky Fingers – Houston pizza at its finest: For me, I love “supreme” pizzas. The more stuff on it the better. Sticky Fingers pizza comes with mozzarella, pepperoni, ham, sausage, beef, mushrooms, onion, green pepper and black olives. The ingredients were obviously fresh, no canned veggies on this pizza. It was loaded with toppings right to the edge of the pizza. It was one of the best pizzas I’ve had.
Beddar Cheddar Burger – Unique pizza flavors with this Houston pizza: My husband is all about the meat and this one appealed to him when looking through the menu. It comes with mozzarella, cheddar, extra beef, onion, green pepper and bacon. This one – also a great pizza.
Let’s talk crust. In all their advertising the slogan “It’s the Crust!” is everywhere. It should be because this truly is one of the features of this pizza that set it apart. You can choose from garlic butter, garlic cheese or sesame flavored crusts at no additional charge. I got garlic cheese on both pizzas. You can tell the care that is put into these pizzas. Now for the bonus – we spent just over $20 for both of these loaded pizzas with premium toppings. Looking at the regular prices, they are also very reasonable. A great value given the quality and quantity you receive.
Mr. Jim’s Houston Pizza Pros and Cons
Frankly, Mr. Jim’s pizza has become my favorite delivery pizza in Houston for our area. The cons are few and likely attributable to the newness of the place while they are working out their bugs: wrong coupon code for online pizza delivery thus no free points, incorrect address because it was not repeated and the other issue I had was that it was not cut, more like scored, so I had to cut it at home, something that would be an issue if I was in an office perhaps. But the cons are incredibly minor and I bet they will be worked out pretty quickly. The pros are: friendly service, great prices, delicious pizza and fast delivery in Houston. For those of you who are looking for a better solution for takeout pizza in Houston, Mr. Jim’s is an ideal choice and I highly recommend it.
