Each and every year companies try to find ways to becomes more energy efficient or at the very least try to help their consumer do so. For this reason companies that look into making everyday items more energy efficient have the best chance of grabbing the consumers attention and making them more energy conscious and begin to help form a greener planet in the long run. This is why the announcement by company Osram Sylvania has the right idea when it decided to go with recreating the light bulb and making it more energy efficient.
So what kind of light bulb did they create? Osram Sylvania decided to create a LED bulb that will work as a replacement for the current sixty watt bulbs that are out on the market today. Not only is the bulb more energy efficient and environmentally friendly, but it is equivalent to a sixty watt incandescent bulb, but only uses twelve watts as power. That is a vast improvement from the current standard sixty watt bulbs and is definitely a step in the right direction in terms of making the world greener. The bulb also has the ability to give off eight hundred and ten lumens which is more than other bulbs of the same construction at similar prices. Though this will attract the consumer, with a lifetime of almost twenty five thousand hours the cost effectiveness of such a bulb will be well worth the purchase.
Though this is a great thing for green energy and for turning the consumer more green, with a price tag of almost forty dollars the company has to have a way of still attracting the customer to buy them. As long as they can provide models on the package that represent the overall saving to the consumer they will have a better chance of getting their bulbs off the shelves and in the homes of the average everyday person. It means a lot to a consumer to know that they are getting what they pay for and even if they are energy conscious and want to be green money always seems to talk. The good thing is that companies are competing to create more efficient and greener products and that competition will drives the prices of their products down making it much more affordable for the consumer in the end. As long as the bulbs get more efficient and their prices continue to go down it becomes more and more likely that they will start to be placed in every home and not just the consumer but the world will be thankful for that.
