Initial reports are coming in about Carroll Garden’s latest addition, a new tapas and wine bar: Palo Cortado at 520 Court St between Nelson and Huntington. The Brownstoner reports Palo Cortado is officially open for business as of October 12th, and so far reviews are good.
Officially a tapas bar serving traditional light Spanish fare and appetizers, The Brownstoner characterizes Palo Cortado as “primarily a wine bar,” to which we have to reply: “fantastic!”
In addition to the smaller plates, meats, and cheeses, the menu reportedly offers larger plates such as paella as well, which, for those unfamiliar with Spanish cuisine, is a rice dish that typically includes seafood and/or meats and vegetables.
The decor consists of dark wood paneling, wrought iron, and exposed brick (of course), with soft lighting and lots of candles. Sounds awesome!
“Great food and ambiance” notes one of the establishment’s first patrons on The Brooklyn Heights Blog. The place has been busy so far, which bodes well for its future as well as the neighborhoods.
What could make it better? Well, in case the owner’s were wondering, how about happy hour deals. Everybody loves happy hour.
