Mauzac opened in August after a painfully long (six month) wait on the Liquor License gods, according to the Brooklyn Paper. But license they finally did obtain, and open they also finally did, much to the glee of Fort Greeners.
Mauzac is located right across DeKalb from Fort Greene, at 136 DeKalb, and offers what My Little O (as well as some Yelp reviewers) describes as a “fantastic” wine list and “cozy,” “intimate” space.
Exposed brick, views of the park, and a copper bar are among the details that add to Mauzac’s welcoming atmosphere, as well as a wine list with accessible prices (starting at $6) and non-pretentious staff that, as one reviewer described, “offered me tastes of wines he thought I would enjoy.”
Of the five Yelp reviews to date, three of them rated Mauzac with Five stars, and the lowest rating of three stars was itself relatively glowing with little in the way of critique.
It may be safe to say that Mauzac, a very recent addition to the nabe, is here to stay.
