New Years hats are the best items on New Year’s Eve aren’t they? Especially if you’re celebrating with a group of kids. Spending some time on New Year’s Eve day assembling the party hat attire for the evening is a good way to bring the family together, around a common interest for the evening. Not to mention that you build the anticipation for a fun evening when you gather the kids for some pre-party fun ! Here’s a New Year’s Eve weather hat for everyone to put together and wear for the festivities. What’s New Years without a fun party hat to wear? Not just any party hat, but one that your own kids created!
10 ¾ white paper plate (make sure it’s sturdy)
9 inch paper plate or bowl
Markers or paints
1. Place the 9 inch plate or bowl in the center of the larger plate and trace a circle around it. Then divide that newly drawn circle into 8 equal parts similar to pie slices. Once you’ve completed these lines, the next thing to do is cut along them all being careful not to cut the outer edge.
2. After cutting the lines into that small plate or bowl, bend up the resulting triangles. This will create a sun ray effect for the center of the hat. Paint or color the sun ray yellow and the outer rim portion of the plate blue for the sky.
3. Next, make holes around the plate for the drizzling rain that the narrow ribbons will represent. You’ll have an easier time feeding the ribbon through those holes by folding them in half and threading them through the holes. Then draw the ends through the loop that is naturally formed and pull firmly so the ribbons are snug.
4. Scatter the cotton balls around the blue rim for clouds by gluing them on. Then finish things off by gluing on glitter stars around the entire plate. Viola! Your New Years Eve hat is complete!
