The second week of the NFL and of fantasy football is a week of unrealistic expectations based on Week One of the NFL. September 19th is almost a must win for some NFL teams and also some fantasy football owners. Be careful not to put in a fantasy football phenom of week one in your fantasy league right back in for week two.
Chad Ocho Cinco, Miles Austin and Austin Collie were huge in the first week but don’t fall for the temptation to start them under certain circumstances. Don’t misunderstand the advice, if they are better on an average or down day than the number three wide receiver. Bottom line, know that these three will have a nearly impossible chance to break 100 yards. They will be decoys in their games and they are all playing hard hitting defenses.
DeSean Jackson Philadelphia Eagles #1 Fantasy Football Wide Receiver to Start in NFL Week 2
DeSean Jackson suffered through one of the most frustrating games of his young career in the first week and fantasy football owners suffered along with him. Do not compound the mistake. Michael Vick is looking to show the world he can get the ball down field and he is not a one dimensional quarterback. He also knows this is his opportunity to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. DeSean Jackson is going to play a huge part in the official resurrection of Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles offense. Start DeSean Jackson over all wide receivers and it does not matter what type of fantasy football league.
Steve Smith Carolina Panthers #2 Fantasy Football Wide Receiver to Start in NFL Week 2
Steve Smith is a competitor and he will be on fire coming into this game looking for big numbers. Matt Moore suffered a concussion in his game and with the new NFL rules, if they are followed it could result in Moore missing Sundays game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If Matt Moore does start as the Panthers have insisted, he will have a short leash. It does not matter when it comes to Steve Smith, he will get his catches and his damaging yards after the catch. Smith will be a man on a mission. Start Steve Smith, he will be a surprise fantasy football stud in Week Two of the NFL.
Larry Fitzgerald Arizona Cardinals #3 Fantasy Football Wide Receiver to Start in NFL Week 2
Fantasy football owners of Larry Fitzgerald were throwing up after seeing their first game with Derek Anderson under center for the Arizona Cardinals. Don’t be surprised is a couple thousand of them called Kurt Warner and begged him to come back. Fitzgerald was targeted 15 times and had three receptions with a touchdown. The key right now for fantasy football owners after the first week is don’t panic. Fitzgerald will be fine and he will turn in a 100 yard performance this weekend. Don’t be afraid and do not bench Larry Fitzgerald. He will not disappoint fantasy football owners this week.
Wes Welker New England Patriots #4 Fantasy Football Wide Receiver to Start in NFL Week 2
Wes Welker had a good day in the first week of fantasy football and he will be perfect in this game against the New York Jets. Look for Tom Brady to stretch the field with Randy Moss and Justin Edelman on the perimeter and Wes Welker will be the man on the slant pass that the New York Jets will be trying to lay the hammer on. Welker will take some punishment so this is a scary start. He will be awesome in PPR fantasy football leagues. Start Welker in this game against the New York Jets but be careful not to start him next week fantasy football owners.
Reggie Wayne Indianapolis Colts #5 Fantasy Football Wide Receiver to Start in NFL Week 2
Peyton Manning is still the man for the Indianapolis Colts but that New York Giants pass rush is menacing. Manning will only have eyes for his number one receiver, Reggie Wayne. If Anthony Gonzalez continues to struggle with injuries, it a guarantee that Wayne’s numbers will improve. Start Reggie Wayne and count the receptions from the opening gun. Wayne will be a fantasy football stud against the hard hitting New York Giants defense.
