It was definitely a heavenly night for safety Patrick Chung as his New England Patriots picked up a big win against AFC nemesis, the Miami Dolphins.
“You just gotta give thanks to the man upstairs. He blessed me.” (Patrick Chung video interview)
Chung had a night in which very few defensive players have: a block punt, a block field goal and returning a interception for a touchdown.
It is safe to say that Chung’s performance will garner him the NFL special teams player of the week.
“Oh yeah, man, Patrick Chung gets my vote for special teams player of the week, two blocked kicks and a pick-six,” said teammate Kyle Arrington.
The Kingston, Jamaica native was a special teams star at Oregon along with being a productive hard-hitting safety for the Ducks.
The Patriots had been somewhat maligned in regard to their defense, but Chung’s big plays helped to gave a boost to the Patriots with hopes of winning the AFC East and getting back to the playoffs this year.
Not only did Chung have a great night, his teammate Brandon Tate returned the second half kickoff 103 yards for a touchdown in from the Miami crowd which pretty much took the air out the stadium.
