NFL picks week 2 are here, and they include the Jets vs. Patriots. Among the NFL picks week 2 coverage is Jets vs. Patriots, Giants vs. Colts, and Monday nights Saints vs. 49ers. We will start with the New York Jets playing the New England Patriots in a game that is destined to decide the supremacy in the AFC East. The Jets lost their first game of the 2010 NFL season against the Baltimore Ravens, and have got to improve their play on offense if they want to make it back to the NFL playoffs. We have been predicting here that the Jets won’t be nearly as good as the hype has been predicting, and we think that the Patriots are about to send them to 0-2 on the year. The Jets defense will keep it close, but New England wins this one.
Over in the Giants vs. Colts game, we have a battle between brother Eli Manning and Peyton Manning set to go down. This is the home opener for the Indianapolis Colts, and home cooking will do them very well on Sunday night. The Giants defense isn’t ready to try and stop Peyton Manning, and this Patriots offense is playing extremely well. Look for them to finally clamp down with the run defense, and that at the end of the night both of these teams will leave Lucas Oil Stadium with 1-1 records. To put it bluntly, we think the Colts are going to struggle this season, but we also don’t think that the Giants are a playoff caliber team that has any shot against a Peyton Manning offense. The Colts will win by more than two touchdowns by the time the final whistle blows.
The final premiere game of the week will come on Monday night, when the New Orleans Saints travel to play the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers were flat out embarrassed in week 1 of the NFL schedule, when they went to Seattle and were sent back to California with their tails between their legs. Coach Mike Singletary has got to get his guys on the same page if they want to try for the NFC West title, but it’s not going to happen on Monday night. The Saints offense and Drew Brees didn’t play as well in week 1 as they did last season, but we expect them to rebound quite easily against a 49ers defense that is not as good as advertised. This is a game that could get out of hand very quickly, and we think that this San Francisco team is about to start the 2010 season at 0-2.
