NFL Power Rankings for Week 8 with Schedule and Picks

by bogbit

Week 8 of the 2010 NFL season is upon us, and here is the latest edition of JAMcLynne’s NFL Power Rankings. This week’s NFL Power Ranking has a couple of teams dropping out of the top 10, with a few NFL teams making a move upwards.

The New England Patriots remained at the top spot in the NFL Power Rankings score. However, this was not due to their performance on the field as the Patriots barely squeaked past the Chargers. However, a couple of teams like the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts were idle, and the Saints lost a shocker to the Cleveland Browns. Thus the New England Patriots hung on to the number one slot in this week’s NFL Power Rankings.

A team making a big move was the Tennessee Titans, as they slide into the number 6 slot in the NFL Power Rankings. Another team making a jump in ranks were the Oakland Raiders. It was interesting to see how JAMcLynne’s NFL Power Ranking software handled the lopsided win that the Oakland Raiders had against the Denver Broncos. The Raiders went from 32st last week, up to the 23rd slot.

The New York Giants, fresh off their Monday Night Football victory over the Dallas Cowboys were able to crack the top 5. The Giants have won 4 games in a row over some decent opponents and are steadily climbing JAMcLynne’s NFL Power Rankings.

Week 8 Schedule with Team Records and NFL Power Rankings Score
Winners in Bold

Sun, Oct 31Time (ET)
Buffalo Bills (0-6) 35.27 at Kansas City Chiefs 72.90 (4-2)
Arrowhead Stadium 1:00 PM
The Buffalo Bills are a team that has not had a win this season. Yet the Bills are playing better each week. It is only a matter of time before the Bills get their first win.

Jacksonville Jaguars 46.63 (3-4) at Dallas Cowboys 63.58 (1-5)
Cowboys Stadium 1:00 PM
A tough season for the Dallas Cowboys. With the injury to Tony Romo against the Giants on Monday Night Football, the season may get even tougher. Tony Romo fractured his left clavicle and may spend 6 weeks on the bench. The NFL Power Rankings score has Dallas favored to win against the Jaguars. JAMcLynne’s Power Ranking software still scores the Cowboys a little on the high side. With the loss of Tony Romo, the Cowboys should continue their downward spiral.

Carolina Panthers 46.94 (1-5) at St Louis Rams 33.92 (3-4)
Edward Jones Dome 1:00 PM
The St. Louis Rams can get no respect in the NFL Power Rankings, as they are the lowest ranked 3-4 team. The Carolina Panthers may also be a little over ranked, so expect this game to be closer than the NFL Power Rankings indicate.

Miami Dolphins 47.19 (3-3) at Cincinnati Bengals 55.92 (2-4)
Paul Brown Stadium 1:00 PM
The Bengals have home field advantage against the Dolphins. Miami has won all of their road games this season, so this match up may be close.

Washington Redskins 57.75 (4-3) at Detroit Lions 32.16 (1-5)
Ford Field 1:00 PM
Washington travels to Detroit to take on a bottom ranked team. The Redskins should have no problems beating the Lions.

Denver Broncos 50.37 (2-5) at San Francisco 49ers 39.79 (1-6)
Wembley Stadium 1:00 PM
Denver and the 49ers travel to England to to play a regular season game. Jet lag will likely be more of a factor in this game then power rankings score, but the Broncos should come out with a win.

Green Bay Packers 70.38 (4-3) at New York Jets 84.41 (5-1)
New Meadowlands Stadium 1:00 PM
The Green Bay Packers will face a tough test in New Meadowlands Stadium. The New York Jets are coming off a bye week, and will be chomping at the bit to get back into playing football.

Tennessee Titans 79.93 (5-2) at San Diego Chargers 71.61 (2-5)
Qualcomm Stadium 4:05 PM
The San Diego Chargers are the highest ranked 2-5 in the NFL Power Rankings. The Tennessee Titans are a team on the rise in the NFL Power Rankings. This game will be a close match-up despite the differences in overall records.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 44.08 (4-2) at Arizona Cardinals 48.01 (3-3)
University of Phoenix Stadium
These are two teams that have been hovering near bottom the the NFL Power Rankings for most of the season. The Cardinals have home field advantage and maybe an extra point or two.

Minnesota Vikings 64.32 (2-4) at New England Patriots 90.43 (5-1)
Gillette Stadium 4:15 PM
The Viking will likely go into New England without Brett Favre who has and ankle injury. The Patriots should roll away with the win, even if Favre plays. Brett is becoming a liability on the field, and his retirement may not be too far away.

Seattle Seahawks 52.48 (4-2) at Oakland Raiders 47.52 (3-4)
Oakland Coliseum 4:15 PM
A spark caught fire with the Oakland Raiders when they put up 59 points against the Denver Broncos. The Seahawks have the advantage in the NFL Power Rankings, but the Raiders may still be flying high. This should be a close AFC West match up.

Pittsburgh Steelers 74.29 (5-1) at New Orleans Saints 76.1 (4-3)
Superdome 8:20 PM
The Saints have lost a couple of games that they should have won. The Steelers are a team on the rise. Since the game is in New Orleans, the Saints get a slight home field advantage. The Sunday Night Match up between the Steelers and Saints could be a close game.

Mon, Nov 01
Houston Texans 58.79 (4-2) at Indianapolis Colts 84.6 (4-2)
Lucas Oil Stadium 8:30 PM
In a tight race in the AFC South, the Colts and the Texans square off. The Colts have the slight advantage in the NFL Power Rankings due to a tougher schedule.
