NFL Power Rankings Week 10: Baltimore Ravens No. 1 Again

December 19, 2010

NFL power rankings week 10 coverage will have a new team at the top of the list. Last week we had the New England Patriots as the best team in the NFL, but an embarrassing loss to the Cleveland Browns has forced us to re-think that opinion. Maybe we moved to early in promoting them to that top spot, but starting out the season 6-1 was a pretty authentic task for them. New England became the last team in the NFL to lose their second game of the season, but they did it in such ugly fashion that the loss is going to stick with them for the rest of the 2010 NFL season.

The new No. 1 team at the top of the week 10 NFL power rankings are the Baltimore Ravens, who have held the top spot many times before in our weekly rankings. They deserve that top spot again after beating a tough Miami Dolphins fan, and moving into a tie for the best record in the NFL right now. At 6-2, they are well on their way to the AFC Playoffs, but there is certainly a lot of football ahead in that tough AFC North division. They don’t even have sole possession of first place yet, as they are tied with the equally impressive Pittsburgh Steelers so far this season.

We have officially reached the halfway point of the 2010 NFL season, and it is time to mark the Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, and Carolina Panthers as D.O.A. They are in last place in their respective divisions, and that isn’t going to change before the end of the 2010 campaign. Buffalo wasn’t figuring to do much this season either, but starting out 0-8 has them on pace to tie that ugly record the Detroit Lions set for consecutive losses. A few other teams are on life support, including the San Francisco 49ers, Minnesota Vikings, and San Diego Chargers, but they are either in weak enough divisions that they are still in it, or have too much talent to be counted out just yet.

Removing the horrible teams from the equation reveals that there are still quite a few teams in the NFL that have a great shot at making the NFL Playoffs this year. No clear Super Bowl favorites have emerged in either league, and the potential still exists that we could see an Indianapolis vs. New Orleans Super Bowl for the second consecutive year. Both teams have their act together again, and could quickly become the favorites in their respective conferences by stringing together a few consecutive wins. For week 10 of the NFL season, here is our current NFL power rankings.
