The NFL power rankings for Week 3 are very odd indeed. In the NFL power rankings Week 3, some teams that never top the rankings will start Week 3 on top of traditional powers. Teams like the Texans, Chiefs, Bucs, Dolphins and Bears are among the eight unbeatens left, while teams like the Cowboys, Vikings and 49ers are among the eight winless franchises left. In between, there are 16 squads at 1-1, some of which are happier to be there than others. As such, the NFL power rankings Week 3 are an odd bunch, with no clue yet on when order will be restored.
The Saints narrowly got to stay at No. 1, despite struggling against the 49ers last night. Although they haven’t run opponents over like they did last year, they have pulled out two early wins nonetheless. Losing Reggie Bush was a setback, but the defending champs look to stay on top until they lose.
Other teams on top of the NFL power rankings Week 3 are not used to a high position. One of the big question marks is where to put teams like the Chiefs and Buccaneers, as the jury is still out on whether they can keep it up. The Dolphins and Bears made a move up by beating the Vikings and Cowboys — although that might not be a big achievement right now.
The Texans should make an impact on the NFL power rankings Week 3 after coming back against the Redskins in overtime. With two of the most impressive wins thus far, and with a showdown against Dallas on Sunday, the Texans could stake a claim near the top if they keep this up. Meanwhile, the Packers are living up to early hype, while the Steelers are moving up without Ben Roethlisberger.
Another question mark is where to put all of the 1-1 teams on the NFL power rankings Week 3. The Colts, Chargers, Jets and Bengals can make a move back up, after recovering from ugly losses. Meanwhile, the Patriots, Titans and Giants took a step backwards into the .500 mark.
As for the Cowboys and Vikings, they have to be placed in the bottom half of the polls for a while, until they at least get back to .500. But with the way they have played, it might take a while — although the Cowboys can make a statement against the Texans.
The NFL power rankings Week 3 are unusual, but they stand to get shaken up after this coming week. Matchups like the Jets vs Dolphins, Packers vs Bears, Steelers vs Bucs, and Cowboys vs Texans should clear a few things up.
Until then, here is a top 12 for the NFL power rankings Week 3.
1. Saints: 2-0
2. Packers: 2-0
3. Steelers: 2-0
4. Texans: 2-0
5. Colts: 1-1
6. Dolphins: 2-0
7. Chargers: 1-1
8. Bears: 2-0
9. Ravens: 1-1
10. Jets: 1-1
11. Patriots: 1-1
12. Chiefs: 2-0
