I’m still not repeating my 2009-2010 success (much like the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys). But, I do seem to be slowly turning my season around; with a 9-4 finish last week that put me above .500 for the first time.
I don’t know if I will end up having a strong finish but I’m going to give it a shot; starting with this week’s predictions:
Arizona Cardinals at Minnesota Vikings – Brett Favre looked every one of his 41 years after the loss to the New England Patriots last week and the Vikings have parted ways with Randy Moss (and the third round pick they gave up for him). However, I just have a feeling Favre will show just enough of his old magic to somehow win this one. Vikings win.
Chicago Bears at Buffalo Bills – The Bears are coming off their bye week and should be rested. But, I think the winless Bills are due. Bills win.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Atlanta Falcons – The NFC South will likely come down to these two teams. I won’t predict the winner of that battle but I like the home team in this game. Falcons win.
New York Jets at Detroit Lions – I’m willing to bet the Jets won’t try as many trick plays this week. But, as the Packers revealed Sunday, if you stop the run game, you stop this team’s offense. Lions win.
New England Patriots at Cleveland Browns – Tom Brady isn’t putting up huge numbers but he is doing just enough to get the win. Patriots win.
San Diego Chargers at Houston Texans – The Chargers managed to get a win this past weekend. But, I think they are still missing too many players to make it two in a row. Texans win.
Miami Dolphins at Baltimore Ravens – I really should pick the Ravens in this one. But, the Dolphins need to win so they can keep pace with the Patriots. Dolphins win.
New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers – The question is, which Saints team will show up this week? I’m guessing it’ll be the bad Saints team. Panthers win.
New York Giants at Seattle Seahawks – It’s going to be a bad couple weeks for the Seahawks. They got beat up by the Raiders last week and the Giants will do the same this week. Giants win.
Indianapolis Colts at Philadelphia Eagles – Michael Vick is returning at quarterback for the Eagles and I think that will make a huge difference in this game. Eagles win.
Dallas Cowboys at Green Bay Packers – Packers General Manager Ted Thompson gets a lot of grief for his build-through-the-draft philosophy and his reluctance to sign big name free agents. But, it’s hard to argue with the quality of depth; especially on defense. Packers win.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals – The Steelers were embarrassed by the Saints last week and I see them taking it out on a Cincinnati team that just cannot get their season turned around. Steelers win.
Bye Week Teams –
Denver Broncos – At 2-6, it’s hard to imagine Josh McDaniels not being on the coaching hot seat.
San Francisco 49ers – The same can be said for Mike Singletary. However, with an extra week to prepare, quarterback Troy Smith might help turn that around.
Tennessee Titans – Just when I think Jeff Fisher might be done in Tennessee, he has his team back in AFC South contention.
St. Louis Rams – Who would have thought this team would be at .500 and a legitimate contender for the NFC West?
Washington Redskins – A lot of people are criticizing the Donovan McNabb benching in the final minutes of Washington’s loss to the Lions. But, remember, Andy Reid did the same thing in Philadelphia and his play improved.
Jacksonville Jaguars – The Jaguars are still fighting but have a lot of work to do if they want to keep up with the rest of the division.
My Overall Record – 59-55
