Week 3 of the 2010 NFL season arrives with several surprise 2-0 teams looking to make it 3-0, and several highly touted teams desperately hoping to avoid starting the season 0-3. Personally, I am looking to improve my prediction record of 17-14.
Tennessee Titans at New York Giants – My Prediction: Tennessee
This will be a good game to see which team is for real, after both teams had great first games and then stumbled in Week 2. I believe the Titans will have the edge because of their superior running game with Chris Johnson and their league-leading defense.
Cincinnati Bengals at Carolina Panthers – My Pick: Cincinnati
The Jimmy Clausen era begins in Carolina this week, with the rookie quarterback getting his first career start. It will be the spoiled by the visiting Bengals, who will keep up their momentum gained from beating division rival Baltimore last week by cruising to an easy win.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers – My Pick: Pittsburgh
This is an interesting game, featuring two teams that nobody expected to start the season 2-0. Pittsburgh has proven that they can win regardless of who is at quarterback, so I am picking them to win this battle of unbeaten teams.
Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots – My Pick: New England
The hapless Bills roll into New England to play the Patriots, who are looking to bounce back after losing to the Jets. The only mystery about this game is how badly the Bills are going to lose.
Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens – My Pick: Baltimore
After losing a close game to the Bengals last week, the Ravens would like to get back to their winning ways. Hosting the lowly Browns is a great way to do that.
San Francisco 49ers at Kansas City Chiefs – My Pick: San Francisco
Few people thought that San Francisco would be 0-2, and nobody thought Kansas City would be 2-0. After being narrowly defeated by the defending Super Bowl Champions, I believe this is the week the 49ers will break through and get their first victory.
Dallas Cowboys at Houston Texans – My Pick: Houston
The Texans are aiming for the first 3-0 start in franchise history, and the Cowboys are trying to avoid starting the season 0-3. I predict that Houston will continue their hot streak with a close win.
Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings – My Pick: Minnesota
After a disappointing 0-2 start, Brett Favre and the Vikings seek their first victory of the season against the Lions. Another loss would be devastating to Minnesota, so I think they will get it done this week and pick up their first victory.
Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints – My Pick: New Orleans
The defending Super Bowl champions look to improve their record to 3-0, but will have a difficult time doing it against the Falcons. I pick the Saints to win a close, hard-fought battle at home.
Washington Redskins at St. Louis Rams – My Pick: Washington
After a close loss to the Texans last week, the Redskins will get back into the win column by beating the Rams.
Philadelphia Eagles at Jacksonville Jaguars – My Pick: Philadelphia
Michael Vick gets the start again at quarterback for the Eagles, and should have another big day against the Jaguars.
Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos – My Pick: Indianapolis
The Colts made up for their loss in Week 1 by blowing out the Giants last week. I pick them to continue their impressive offensive production as they defeat the Broncos, even without wide receiver Pierre Garcon who is out with a hamstring injury.
Oakland Raiders at Arizona Cardinals – My Pick: Oakland
Bruce Gradkowski provided a spark off the bench last week when he replaced Jason Campbell at quarterback at halftime. He gets the start this week and I’m picking the Raiders to get the win again behind Gradkowski and running back Darren McFadden.
San Diego Chargers at Seattle Seahawks – My Pick: San Diego
The Chargers smashed the Jaguars last week, and they will likely do the same to the Seahawks this week.
New York Jets at Miami Dolphins – My Pick: Miami
I’m picking the Dolphins to get the big win over the Jets, who will be without Darelle Revis who has a hamstring injury.
Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears – My Pick: Green Bay
The Packers travel to Chicago for a huge game against the Bears. The Bears could go a long way toward proving they are a legitimate contender if they are able to knock off Green Bay, but I believe that the Packers will come out victorious.
