Nicki Minaj born Onika Miraj, is the hottest female rap artist on the scene. The debate over whether her butt was real or fake has only gotten her more attention from fans. Some of it was negative attention from females. She sent a message to her haters on YouTube telling them, “I’m not your enemy, I’m your hero.” When she first came out, she claimed that she was an entertainer and not a rapper. Her neon colored wigs and sexy poses gained controversy among many Lil Kim fans. At a recent interview on thisis50.com, Lil Kim said, “it’s irritating to see her keep bussin shots at me and not paying homage, and then you gone buss shots at me; that’s really irritating.” Should Nicki Minaj give her credit to Lil Kim for becoming hip hops best female rapper, or has the Harajuku Barbie made her own entrance with her big booty appearances and her comical lyrics. Her “Pink Friday” album will be in stores November 23, 2010. She had collaborated with various artists like Usher, Trey Songs, Sean Garrett, and Ludacris. To add to her massive portfolio, she has a song on her new album called, “Check it Out” featuring Will.i.am. Nicki Minaj has her own style and is embracing it through her character and lyrics.
The Lyrical Content
The Southside Jamaica, Queens’ native has several different accents to shape her celeb personality, making her a more versatile rap artist. Girls as young as eight years old are rapping to her single “Bottoms Up.” Young girls want to rap like her and dance like her. Nicki Minaj portrays herself to be a Black Barbie which targets young girls. Her lyrical content is so explicit and adult-like that kids repeating her lyrics may end up in trouble. Does she target young fans with her Barbie image or adults with her lyrical content?
The first time she came out everyone was talking about her butt being so big. She was well known for her thick thighs and big ole’ booty until rumors surfaced about her having a fake booty. Nicki Minaj didn’t really comment on the rumors about her fake butt, but she did start wearing more revealing clothes. Most people thought she was just a thick girl but when everyone found out that her booty wasn’t real, the whole “Nicki Minaj appearance” became more of a talk. Keys and other female rappers were making diss videos about the rumors. That didn’t stop Twitter fans from wanting to follow her or listen to her music. Her diva meter started to rise when more people accepted that she had a fake butt and her appearance was made up of artificial accessories.
One thing people may not have known about Nicki Minaj when she started rapping was that she liked women. Videos on YouTube were released with her saying comments about her sexuality. She wasn’t shy of telling people that she dated men and women. There’s nothing wrong with people who are bi-sexual; in-fact people accepted the fact that she was upfront about her sexuality and didn’t hide it. The thing about this is that one day a rumor was that she married Drake. Another rumor is going around that she’s dating r&b singer Cassie.
