They released the clip for their new video “Check It Out” last night, and Nicki Minaj and will.i.am are pumped about the clip.
Joined by their clones, the hip hop superstars take things to the next level in the video, with an all-out assault on the eyes and ears.
During the filming process last month, Miss Minaj explained, “We’re doing an ode almost to Japanese anime. I’m obviously a big fan, and I’ve joined forces with the only boy that I know that’s able to capture that culture.”
Will added, “I was like, ‘I got to take it to the next level now.’ Cause usually you mess with cats and there is no next level, because they don’t inspire the next level. So she inspired the next level. So push it. You went five miles, then you better go 100.”
This past weekend Nicki Minaj was busy treating her fans to an energetic performance in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The 25-year-old joined a star-studded lineup including Drake, Ne-Yo and Rick Ross at the Wells Fargo Center while partaking in the annual Power 99 FM “Powerhouse 2010” concert.
For the gig, Miss Minaj emerged from backstage donning a blazer with shoulder pads to go with her bright pink wig while churning out versions of “Your Love,” “Check It Out” and “Roger That”.
During the course of the evening, Nicki, as well as the Very Own crew, joined together onstage to wish Drake a happy birthday – with Minaj capping the tribute off by planting a big smooch on the Canadian rapper’s cheek.
